Awww Kyle!

I so miss this boy! I am always thinking of things that I could  make him do or we could do together and then I remember he is severing the Lord!
Look at him! He is trying to pretend that he is not nervous to go into the MTC!

Humming Birds

So my friend Jill is a PT and she one of her paitents lives in Inkom and at his house there is a large amount of humming birds! So large that a researcher/professor comes all the way from Alabama to tag and measure the hummingbirds! So they invite Jill to come and see this and she invited us! I was super excited but it was super cold! So these are a few of the pictures that I took of my hummingbird extravagansa!
This is a picture of Fred (the professor) measuring the tail of the hummingbird! Did you know that hummingbirds trail up to 2000 miles in their migration! I do, well I do now!
Inside these bags are hummingbirds waiting to be tagged and measured!
This is Jill's friend's little girl! She is holding a humming bird!
This is one of the five feeders that had hummingbirds around it!
It is a little fuzzy! But this is me holding a hummingbird! I was super nervous because I don't really like animals and I have recently started to hate birds but I couldn't pass up that kind of an opportunity! I held to hummingbirds and got to feel one's heart beat! It was awesome!
This is Fred measuring a beak!

This is Fred showing us the "bread" of a male hummingbird! The feathers are lueminisent meaning that they change from black to pink depending on the way you hold it! He told us about the different types of hummingbirds but I don't remember that they were!

Don't watch the video of all the way! I tried to turn it off but obviusly it didn't work!

Such a pretty view it Inkom!

Darn Birds

I am so angery! I woke up yesterday to the sound of a ton of bird! I am could just see a large group of birds sitting in my tree eating my cherries and I thought Damn Birds! So last year when I didn't spreay my tree not one animal (including birds and squirles)  ate my larvay cherries! I did but the animals left them alone! Now that my grandpa and the tree guy have taken care of my tree they are eating them before they are ripe! Everytime I look out my window I get super angry and think swear words at the birds! I might invest in a scar crow or owl!

Summer Reading!

I love reading and during the summers I go a little crazy! I am pretty sure last summer I read about 40 books so this summer I am going to keep track!
This is a book about the Civil War! I think I read it before when I was younger I would read Ann Rinaldi all the time! Sarah runs off to war and when she is caught she becomes a spy for Pinkerton! It was a good book! I liked it. I don't like Pinkerton but that is mostly because of the later years of strike breaking and sneaking around (really information not in the book)!
I love LOve Shannon Hale! I haven't met a book of her's I didn't like! This book is a really good book for all ages! I did break my don't stay up longer then 1:30 rule when I finished it! The end is really good!
This book is the 1st one I read this summer! I really loved it! It is about an English Channel island during and after WWII- told through letters! Super Awesome!

Things I have learned while Doing Yard Work!

So I really want to like yard work! I would like to have a green thumb but I am also a tad lazy! So after last year when i weed the garden once (ok truth: Never Michael weeded it once while I did yard weeds) I have made a promise to do better! Just so you  know this year I have already weeded once! Apparently it takes me forever to mow the yard and weeded wack! Maybe It is because I sturggle with the weed wacker and the lawn Mower! Lets start with the weed wacker! These are some pictures that I sent to my Dad the other day! I just know that some times the string won't come out  so I pull on it and then I have to untangle some stuff!

It seriously just spit all these parts out by itself! Please note a spring up by the tree trunk!
Yes the string is twisted up in the grass!
Now to the lawn mower! I think it over heats Michael says he doesn't think so but sometimes it won't start back up for no reason! I think that they mower hates me! For good reason! I am not allowed to put oil in the  lawn mower cause I always put to much in it and Michael has to dump it out!  I can't read the dip stick!
Something else I have learned is Peach trees are mean and they scratch you if you get to close! Mine has made me bleed! My cheery and apple tree are super nice though (their branches are higher)!
I also have a wealth of analogies about weeds and plants for future lessons/talks!
You learn so much from Yard Work!

Last Day of School,Well for Me!

Today was the last day of school and I have never been more ready for anything! It has a rough year! I have really been ultra grumpy for the last two weeks! I have struggled with lazy lazy students and demanding students! My many problem is that when I am grumpy I really don't act to different except for the fact that I am a little short and more sarcastic with students! But at the same time my students do and say crazy things!

This is a picture of a box of Chocolates that two student's gave to me! It says "Heart Ashley and Ross Were sorry" I know that there are some people that may not speak student so I thought I would provide the interperation. The girl writes her s sideways which makes it hard to read and yes I do know that she used the wrong were, I am not an english teacher so I didn't yell at them! Why they were sorry: The Thursday after we dropped Kyle off at the MTC they had said something towards Are you done yet and something else mean. Normal I probably would have laughed it off or ignor them but my emotions were a little to close to the cuff and I started to cry right when I was assigning an assignment! You have never seen a class get so quiet or turn on classmates so fast! Later the student's said that everyone in the classroom hated them because they made me cry! I laughed and said I really don't even remember what they said! My class did turn on them and were very concerned about me! One even tried to give a hug even though I told him I don't give hugs to anyone! Even though my fifth hour was really bad they did love me !
We talked about enviornmentalism in the 1970s and the concerns and these are a few posters that made me giggle:
This one might me inaporerate but I laughed really hard when they put it up!
This one is inapporpreate! The girls in the group wouldn't let them put it up so they put it on the back! It  says I save H2O: Shower in Groups. I love it when they regulate themselves.
This one is for Aunt Allison I know she doesn't read this very often but one of my favorite lines from Thanksgiving is "The Polar Bears are not Dying"
I debated on whether or not to put this picture up! But these two seriously are crazy! They stole my phone off my desk and took this picture in the hall and put it as my wallpaper! Then place the phone back on my desk as if nothing had happen! The next day they wanted to know if I keep it there and I said no way and they they tried to talk me into leaving it there for the rest of school! I really will miss them in about Mid-July but right now I am super excited not to see them everyday!

This student called me "Melissa" all the time, I called him Fat Head! I know super mature! I did get him to call me ma'am! I also got the girl that sat in front of  him to call me Queen Melissa! I didn't think that she would call me it but for the last few weeks she did for the last few weeks of school!

Today at the Faculty Breakfast I got emotional (I was really tired and super stress cause I planned it) when I talked about Highland! I told them that Highland is where my heart is in thestudents and the faculty who I really love! I am proud to me a teacher sometimes is it a struggle and if I had to go another week someone would have died, yes! But as a student that I worked really hard to get through me ISAT program and through my history class came up at graduation and thanked me with tears in his eyes for getting him there! I knew that I had the best job in the whole world and wouldn't do anything different!
