I loved this trip! It was so much fun and we did a lot of totally awesome things! But when the end happened we were ready to go home! We were supposed to catch our plan at 6:00 and around 3 we came out of the subway and Tia got a text message that said your flight has been delayed till 8 or 9 I can't remember! So barely 15 minutes later Tia gets another text message and it says our flight was cancelled! So since we were still at the hotel we called Southwest. The person on the phone wasn't very helpful and said that the first plane they could get us on was Thursday and it was Monday! They said that we could go to the airport and they might be able to help us more. So we took one of the scariest/fastest Uber rides of our life and made it to the airport! We made it in 30 minutes during rush hour and it said that it was 35 minutes away on google maps. (It should be noted that it did rain but nothing really scary enough to cancel a flight maybe delay it but not cancel it) When we got to the airport we seriously saw one of the biggest lines I have ever seen just to to talk to the airline people. It almost took an hour to get to the desk. Apparently they canceled three flights and they really didn't have any room to book anyone on a different flight. So we went decided to try and take the hey I know you have had a rough day but how can you help some nice people out, it didn't work.
Guy- I can't get you out till Thursday
Us-Well can you put us up in a hotel or pay for our food
G- Nope
U-Well that is almost $1,000 a day/person- What can you do? Can you fly us out of another airport here? There are like 4 with in an hour (which seriously blows my mind! It was be so weird to have so many options)
G- Nope there is nothing til Thursday!
U- We flew into Boston can you get a flight from there and pay for the rental to get us there.
G-Nope. I can get you to Baltimore but you will have to get yourself there.
U-What! Standing in line there was rumor of a bus.
G-I don't know anything about that. (As the guy next to us promised the people that the company was getting a bus to take people to Baltimore and Reagan because there were so many people that needed to catch flights)
U- That guy just said that there was a bus.
G- Come back and check with us in about an 8:00 to see if there will be a bus. I will book you on a 6:10 am flight out of Baltimore to Denver. Than you will have an 8 hour lay over and then at 5:30 pm you can catch a flight to Salt Lake.
U-Well at least it won't be Thursday!
After it all I understood why people drink in airports! So I settled for the hardest drink I could find:
So I bet you think this story is over but I hate to disappoint you but not even close! We checked back and they finally tell us to met outside the doors and a bus would be here a 9:30 to pick us up! I am not joking there were a lot of people waiting and I keep thinking we aren't all going to be on one bus. So the poor little guy that is in charge of relaying the message is probably one of the most soft spoken people I have ever heard. He had a microphone and I could still talk loader than him! He did not take well to my offer to speek for him since he was so quite. He just thought people should be quiet but I am sorry people are livid so they are going to complain and see who has the worst story! I am not going to lie we won! Most of the people were going to be home before we even left Denver. When the bus finally gets there at 10:30 we find that we are in the wrong place and have to go to the basement! We get on the bus that is slightly sketchy and start our trip to Baltimore. Dave kept a great attitude because he added Delaware to his state list because we stopped there and he was able to got the gas station. He really didn't sleep but the rest of us kind of did. We got to Baltimore about 3:00 but guess what! Security didn't open up till 4! And the outside of security wasn't like SLC where they have chairs so we laid on the cold grown till we could check our bags. When we finally were able to check our bags we learned that we would have to claim our bags in Denver because 8 hour layover is to long for them to keep track of their bags. We just added this to the list of horribleness. Once again you would think that this would be the end of horrible flights but it wasn't because our flight was delayed because one of our stewardess didn't show up work so we left about 30 minutes late! When we finally made it to Denver we picked up our bags and they won't let us check in again untill 3:00! When I ask what were we supposed to do with our bags the lady very nicely said that they had worked out a deal with the onsite hotel that they would check out bags and get them to our flight on time. We decided to take the light rail to downtown Denver but it was only like 9:00 in the morning and it wasn't that hopin'! I really don't remember much of Denver. I remember Coolers Stadium from the train and once we got off the train we went on a bus and rode till we saw a Ross and then we stopped at it and got off and looked through the store. I know we ate a cheesecake factory and where I fell asleep. It was seriously the worst! We got back to airport and sat in the lobby of the hotel because we still couldn't check in but we didn't have the will to do anything else, There was a huge line for security! And one last horrible airplane story the flight was delayed again because our stewardess didn't show up again! When we finally got back to SLC! We drove the 2 hours home never wanting to leave Pocatello again. At least for a while cause in less than 3 week we would be going to Disneyland!
